No. Most patients come directly, without a referral. If you are under the care of a GP, consultant, or specialist for the condition you are bringing to us, we will always ask permission to contact them and coordinate care where that's useful.
All needles used in the clinic are single-use, sterile, and pre-packaged. They are disposed of after each treatment in clinical sharps bins. Acupuncture, practised by a properly trained BAcC-registered clinician, has an excellent safety record.
Loose, comfortable clothes are ideal. For most treatments you'll stay largely clothed — we may ask you to roll up a sleeve or trouser leg. For bodywork or cupping, we'll provide towels and privacy in the usual way.
It depends entirely on what we're working with. Acute conditions — a recent injury, a passing cold — may settle in two or three sessions. Chronic or long-standing patterns often ask for an initial course of six to eight weekly treatments, followed by a gentler maintenance rhythm. We'll give you a clear and honest estimate after your first visit.
We treat children from around age eight, often using non-needle techniques such as shonishin (gentle stroking tools) and paediatric tui na. Herbal medicine is prescribed where appropriate. A parent or guardian is always present.
Acupuncture at Bliss Farm is recognised by most major UK insurers, including Bupa, AXA, Vitality, and Simplyhealth. We can provide itemised receipts; please check with your individual policy in advance.
We ask for 24 hours' notice for cancellations. Shorter notice or missed appointments are charged at the full session fee, as the time cannot usually be filled. We know life happens — please just let us know, and we'll always try to be reasonable.
